FLASHBACK: Pelosi, Clinton both supported ‘disruptors’ during the Bush administration

Today, top Democrats are criticizing protesters at town hall meetings for speaking out against health care reform, even going as far as to call their tactics “un-American.” However, both Nancy Pelosi and Hillary Clinton praised Democratic protesters during the Bush administration.

Nancy Pelosi said she is “a fan of disruptors” adding that “there is nothing more articulate, more eloquent for a member of congress then the voice of his or her own constituent.” In fact, contrary to her current opinion, she even called such tactics “very American.”

Current Secretary of State Hillary Clinton also spoke out in favor of protesting the Bush administration. She said that she is “sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and you disagree with this administration somehow you’re not patriotic.” Clinton went on to say that “we are Americans and we have a right to debate and disagree with any administration.”
